The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing, and arithmetic… music, dance, painting, and theater are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment.

We will tailor programs to meet your needs. Here are some examples of our curriculum.
General Music Workshop
(4-12 weeks - Pre-K - Elementary School Grades)
In these TEKS-aligned lessons, students will build a repertoire of songs, a set of tools to hone their musical skills, and a wealth of knowledge to engage with music around them for a lifetime of music making. Students enjoy increased confidence, a natural outcome of harmonious collaboration, and increased sensitivity to beauty as they learn to sing tunefully and beautifully.
Songwriting Workshop
(4-12 weeks - Middle School and
High School Grades)
Performance in your school
HBC ensembles will come to campus to perform an engaging program for students. HBC directors will engage students through the cultural and historical context of music by teaching critical listening and thinking skills. Students will deepen their understanding and appreciation of music, becoming active participants in the presentation. Through these performances, students can take these critical skills outside of school to become thoughtful audience members.
Staff Development
(Day Workshops - Week Training Sessions)
HBC teaching artists will engage students in the creation of their own musical works. Students will learn about music notation and text setting while learning how to express their individuality through song. Teachers will encourage the use of modern idioms, such as hip hop and pop styles.
HBC in Schools staff will come to your campus and work side by side with your teachers to demonstrate, assist, and collaborate to achieve improved outcomes in student learning.
