Case for Support
A Journey of Cultural Education
VISION
A world-class choir for boys ages 8-18 that bridges racial and socioeconomic barriers locally and abroad through music, outreach, and education.
MISSION
To build men of character through music.
What does it mean to be a man of character?
This question is central to Houston Boychoir’s mission, as we strive to equip young men in our community with the skills and experiences necessary to become the benevolent leaders of tomorrow.
Today’s boys grapple with peer pressure, negative messaging, and the challenges of navigating a complex, fast-paced world. While many schools do an excellent job of addressing these needs, there are still boys who fall through the cracks and miss out on the support and guidance required to succeed.
Perhaps now more than ever, boys are in need of positive influences and strong role models to steer them toward values such as professionalism, responsibility, empathy, and integrity. These are qualities that will guide them not only through adolescence, but throughout their adult lives.
OUR STORY

Houston Boychoir originally began as The Singing Boys of Houston.
Houston Boychoir became an independent arts organization.
Over its 60 years, the Houston Boychoir has nurtured 6,000 boys, building a strong community with a reputation for musical excellence. We aim to reflect Houston’s diverse fabric, fostering artistic talent and personal growth in its members while impacting the city’s cultural landscape. Each year, the boys embark on a concert tour, visiting cultural destinations across the United States and around the globe, proudly serving as ambassadors for Houston, Texas and the United States of America.
Carole Nelson transistions to the role of Artistic Director Emerita after more than 30 years of service to Houston Boychoir.
Austin Hunt appointed new Artistic and Executive Director.
Director Houston Boychoir Chamber Choir.
On behalf of the Bay Area Chorus, let me express our deep gratitude for the part you played in our concert yesterday. What a phenomenal organization you lead. When you got your standing ovation I wondered if maybe we should just conclude the concert on an extremely high note. You were a hard act to follow.
I got to speak to a couple of the young men and the confidence they exuded was remarkable evidence to your successes beyond creating really beautiful choral music. God Bless You as you continue to focus on the young men you lead and influence.
I wish you the very best in your tour this summer to Buenos Aires.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Each year, in line with our mission to build character through music, Houston Boychoir (HBC) embarks on a concert tour. Traveling internationally provides our boys with a unique opportunity to strengthen friendships, foster understanding, and promote unity, all while discovering new cultures and places.

This year, the HBC Tour Choir will travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina, performing at prestigious venues like the world-renowned Teatro Colón. They will also collaborate with local Argentinian artists to deliver shows at community centers, assisted living facilities, and in underprivileged neighborhoods.
The cost of taking 40 boys and 6 staff members to Argentina is $230,000. While tour participants are asked to contribute, the majority of this expense will be covered by the HBC organization. Your support offers these young men transformative experiences that will profoundly shape their lives.
